geometry of fields

he was trucking through farmland, california endless with it. she and a song she liked to carry on the mind. he would help her, too, for all the years. the ovuliferous inflorescences bursting forth in the geometry of fields. the ocean made the math lay down.   #katyamills

serenade @ safeway

singing while stocking the grocery aisles, a young man makes work a little joyful. unintentionally serenaded i get a little anxious picking up my root beer. the case slips from my hands. the cans they pop off and shower us with foam. under the lights he lifts up my chin. don't cry. runs his large hands through my carbonated braids. this was meant to be.    #katyamills

the blues of 20.20 twos

to the top of our lungs
the same songs we sing at the top
of the subway stairs
carrying our wares
carrying our
cares

we pick ourselves up
the world goes around
like there's no future
we let ourselves
down

may we keep working
through the winters of self
may gratitude blossom
so renewal can sprout
from the roots
into shoots

smokin reds
singing blues
the choices
we chose

need not be

the choices
we choose

channel islands

accompanied by gulls
by Santa Barbaras willet
long-billed fletcher
elegant terns and reddish egret we
shared coffee and song stared
into the morning light
vrikshasana
upright
full-throated
laughing

pack of cigs

say you went from a pack a day to nil
traded away the shit you no longer
need dull knives old clothes
the speed. diabetes wanted your
eyes. smoke breaks upcycled into meditation
shadows given the light treatment they
could not take your vision

off note

the dissonance caused by all

the off notes touched a hundred

thousand hearts who turned

the radio up and swore

someone finally got them

m path

i took the m-path
out of the city
today

abandoned buildings
electric lights
and rain

i took the blue
line just to see you
okay

creature of celestial tongue

i woke to voices sung high in some distant land. they touched into my subconscious and drew me headlong into the world to carry out this mission. to build a creature of feathers and cotton and infuse it with such love that, when called upon by a touch of the paw, it may invoke these celestial notes, opening its half-sewn mouth for to give us all we need to go on another day.

crush

The world drank in a cross-sectioned bit of her life

it was springtime then
the orange crush

all the birds had something
to say

you picked out
the thrush

a million variations
on green

and everyone in
a rush

Journal # ten four

The theatre was replaced by a store, on the street dead-ended at an r.v. park and a crown jewel, on calendar day ten and four. the grasses there were brown as the ground of an aftermath island by a category storm, planks of wood in a dance as they logged the water and dove by drift and distances great, colored settling on ocean floors for schools of fish. we painted on better days that shook a palm tree head of gloom. and so you stood a-looking mournfully out to the deserted street by the window of my room. the dust was swept up and circulated off of the street in the midsummer heat, damselflies at the mercy of cats and lizard wind. you turned to me with a look asked for help. i could not but inexplicably mirror your distress, and in a moment was i your mistress.

possibly a song

Here are the lyrics to a song I am workin on (to be accompanied by my acoustic guitar which I have been neglecting terribly, poor thang)...

"Remember when you thought everything was going well and then it was not, when winter was too cold and summer too hot, another cup of coffee would pull ya through and it did, raised you up like a pup by the lids... some day you gonna be a railroad tie, no one gonna fuck with this guy, some day you can be railroad grade, swimming ona sea of marmalade... some day you gonna be a railroad tie, no one gonna fuck with this guy... some day you can be railroad grade, swimming ona sea of marmalade..."

so i saw somethin last night, like a vision, right
i had to let go of the past and move on. now.
so i am

have a wonderful fabulous fantastic effortless lighthearted brilliant day everyone
love and light

so there

The sun is comin
 up early so
I can see what you
 are doin. do not think
i cannot

my eyes cannot see
you in the dark even
after they adjust
so

You tried to hide
so the sun came
up sooner. than you
thought

The light came
into the sky like so. so
there was nowhere to hide

you're lucky so
lucky I don't really
care so

I'm gonna wink and
drop back. into my
 hole. No one will
 ever have to
 know

The teapot begins
to whistle. let's sing
along. the tune. I
don't really care so
there
