more than halfway out of control

 

when you breathe 

you do so effortlessly

whereas i have to run like i am hunted 

just to sharpen the axe

writing off this shallow sleep

blow by blow

what are we more than 

halfway out of

control

the vision idled

distraction stuck a knife in us 

the vision watched us like house plants

rooted in the here and now

needing to be 

watered

alone at the end of the day

eyes weakened by screens

lunging at air like a bull i

was visited by a red-tail hawk

he gave me the vision i 

thought i had lost

crushed beneath the base

work and faith became mindless

too. in the era of you 

know who

clueless

they can pinpoint a beetle
antennae drumming the earth
satellite imagery
immaculate coordinates
from space they alter the ecosystem
in cells driving home clueless
in mercedes they cannot locate
themselves in the body the breath
why cannot they see
with eyes?
