two years earlier

you killed my friend

on the third day

quivering and wet with fever

like a flower facing the sun

i took charge and backed you into the lungs

come out and fight! Corona

fought off corona for a fortnight and survived

pain has many flavors

in the spine it's like cayenne simmered in a chamomile bath

three years on it's still hard to relax

the pandemic almost buried us all

now i take my key 

striking out to see friends

listen to you and hope with you

that insurance will wake up and pay 

for your meds

of medicine

 i zipped up

ten miles home 

in the rain

popped some tylenol 

advil and said
